Privacy policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
I'll Be Backend publishes free programming lessons on illbebackend.dev (the "site") and as videos on YouTube, TikTok and other video platforms (the "channels"). This policy explains what data is involved and what happens to it. The short version: we don't ask you for anything, we don't run accounts, and we don't sell or share personal data.
What we collect on the site
Nothing that identifies you. The site has no sign-up, no forms, no comments and no advertising, and it sets no cookies. Search and filters run in your browser and are never sent to us.
Like every website, the site is delivered by servers that see technical request data: your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes this data to serve pages and protect against abuse, and may keep aggregate, anonymous traffic statistics that we can see. We don't combine it with anything else or try to identify visitors.
Third parties the site loads from
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces, so your browser contacts Google's servers when a page loads. See Google's privacy policy.
- YouTube and other channels are only linked, not embedded. If you follow a link, that platform's own privacy policy applies.
Our channels and platform connections
We publish our own videos to our own YouTube and TikTok accounts through the platforms' official APIs, using a publishing tool we run ourselves. Through these connections we only access our own accounts: we upload videos and set their titles, descriptions and privacy, and read basic information about our own account and posts, such as whether a post went live and its link. We do not access, collect or store data about other users of those platforms.
The access tokens for these connections are stored on our own machine, used only to publish our content, and can be revoked at any time from the platform's settings. Data the platforms hold about you, for example when you watch, like or comment on our videos, is governed by their own privacy policies: YouTube (Google) and TikTok.
If you contact us
If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply, and delete them when they're no longer needed.
Children
The lessons are for a general audience and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about site visitors, there is usually nothing to access or delete. If you think we hold data about you, or you want to exercise a right under the GDPR or a similar law, email us and we'll answer within 30 days.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site and channels change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
